My New Best Friend, "D" - Greensboro Children's Photographer

So I have an announcement to make. I have a new best bud and he's just about the coolest 20 month old I've met. He is the son of a friend of mine and I had the great pleasure of capturing some images of him this morning. See, D's mom and I used to be tight way back in the day. So far back in the day that she and I decided we weren't going to bring that up again. :) It sure was great to get together with Carolyn and reminisce and get caught up on things all while working on my new friendship with her little one. I promised her a couple of sneak peeks so here you go!

He was pretty shy at first:

And wasn't quite sure what to think about me:

But eventually we became friends:

So sweet!!! And a talker!! And those lashes! Don't get me started on those lashes. Why do boys always get lashes like that?? I just don't know. It's one of those mysteries that will never be solved, I guess. One of nature's cruel little ironies.

I sure did enjoy myself today, for many reasons. Thanks, Carolyn, for allowing me to come into your home and invade it for a couple of hours!

My boys - Greensboro Children's Photographer

My two boys LOVE to have their photo taken! Ahem. Well, not really. :) It could be because I always have my camera out and want to take their picture all the time. Maybe. You think? Well, they were kind enough today to share themselves with me while they were playing outside:

You know, they grow so incredibly fast and I'm very thankful that we will have these faces preserved for their children to look upon. My own parents didn't take many photos, which may be one of the reasons I fell in love with photography. There are periods of my and my sister's lives that are just skipped over. No records exist. Of course, there are some periods that I wish were skipped like this one:

Argh!!! I'm blind, blind I tell you!!! That's me in the middle wearing the most horrific shiny shirt. Oh how I looooved that shirt, y'all. In my defense it WAS 1987, ok? Oh and the pants I wore with it came from Victoria's Secret and they were bright red with suspenders built-in. High-waisted, too. Oh yeah. Glorious. People asked me if I worked for the Fire Dept when I wore those pants but I didn't care. I loved them.

Anyway, I am so fortunate to have a job that I love - taking photographs of people, so they can reflect upon periods in their family's life and feel good that they have such wonderful pictures to remember them by. That doesn't mean that they shouldn't take the classic shots of their teenagers in shiny shirts and red pants though. Doesn't mean that at all...

The Eyes Have It - Greensboro Children's Photographer

So, I think it's pretty clear from looking at the photos I take that I'm obsessed with eyes. I have a hard time liking a photo if the eyes are soft and out of focus. They have to look like this:

I'm really happy when they look like this:

and you won't see me shedding tears over eyes like this:

Here is a photo of my niece, and while they eyes are sharp and in focus, this isn't exactly what I'm going for. :)

Well, she is pretty darn cute though.

If you're a parent or a grandparent, trying to take better snapshots of the kids, remember to always try and get the eyes in focus and you won't be disappointed in the results. Get close and get focused on those eyes. You will be so pleased with your photos, "eye" promise. Sorry. Couldn't resist.

Fun in the Park - Greensboro Children's Photographer

Here are some recent shots I was fortunate enough to take. These two girls are the sweetest most precious things you will lay your eyes on and we had so much fun. They were shy at first but by the end of our session, they were all smiles!

It's That Time of Year!

Soon, the leaves will be changing, the air will become crisp and fragrant with the many aromas that Fall brings. And soon after that, the holiday season will be in full swing! You know it will. It always sneaks up like that.

At any rate, I'm offering special sessions for people who book in September for the Fall and Holiday Season. You will only pay $50 and you will get your choice of (3) 5x7's or (1) 8x10. We can take your photos in a park, at your home, in the pumpkin patch, anywhere fun that we can think of!

Please visit me at www.eviecurleyphotography.com and send me a note via the contact page to let me know if you're interested. Or you may email me at evie@eviecurleyphotography.com. This is one of my favorite times of the year and I would love to share my vision and my style of photography with your family to create some treasured memories.

Don't delay!

Sunday

T minus 10 seconds and counting!

Well I finally did it! My new website has launched and you can see it for yourself at www.eviecurleyphotography.com. There you will see some examples of my work as well as my most recent pricing and session information. I'm really excited about it!!

I took my niece out this weekend and got some shots of her in a local floral garden. It's so beautiful there and when you get there at the right time, the colors really POP!

She was determined to take some of that beauty home with her.

And this little one was enjoying the scenery as well.

I'm really looking forward to fall this year. The changing leaves, the reds, golds, and burnt ambers, the pumpkin patches, Halloween! I just can't wait!
